Alright, I've got this friend (not me if that's what you're thinking) who cuts herself sometimes. She's not suicidal, but says she does it because she's bored. She really doesn't act like someone who would do that and only does it occasionally, but not enough to kill herself. I've always thought that if I had a friend who did this I would help immediately. But her case is different in that it's not like she's tried to kill herself several times before. Like I said, she told me she does it because she's bored. I'm really not sure what I should do. Any suggestions?

One of my girlfriend's old friends used to cut herself too. The only thing that we did was just talk to her really about whatever the problem was and help her through it in whatever way we could. Maybe you could try to give her something else to do instead of cutting herself or something to keep her from being bored. I'll think about it for a while and get back to you with what I'd do.

Thank you again. I'd rather try to help her solve this one than get her help from a shrink or something. They can really make matters worse.

I know exactly what you mean since I've watched my girlfriend's friend go through everything she did.

Yeah, as far as I know she is. She moved and I think went back to live with her real mom. Last time I saw her this fall at one of our high school football games she looked like she was doing good.

What possesses you people to be on at 1 (For me) in the morning? ? It's as bad as the Timberwolves game that doesn't start until 7:30 Mountain time (i think thats what its called, since you never hear about it), which is 8:30 here. One of my friends hasn't been cutting herself, but I do know she's on anti-depressants, and has been since her boyfriend, who she was really close to, broke up with her and started going out with her best friend the next day. So I've been helping her with that. And i've been depressed myself this past year. So I understand, even if your friend doesn't say she's depressed.

I think she is though. I was on those blasted anti-depressants for a while. I'm alot better now though, not because of them. That stuff runs in my family.

Mm doesn't run in my family. Just was the winter and the stress of school that got me depressed. And NaNo too, though that was over by the time it got really bad.
